The SVG p12 cell line was established by transfecting cultured human fetal glial cells from brain material dissected from 8 to 12 week old embryos with DNA from an ori - mutant of SV40.

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) at a seed ratio of 1:2, i.e. seeding at 5x10,000 cells/cm^2 using 0.25% trypsin; 0.05% EDTA. Culture at 5% CO2, 37°C. Renew medium once every 2 to 3 days.
Complete culture medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO II [Cells contain polyomavirus DNA sequences]
